We Are the Sum of 5 People

This one is a bit more of a sensitive topic, and I don’t want to go on record saying anything too out of the ordinary, but to start out, this one is regarding how to read people. The fact of the matter is, we are all always reading and judging one another, the purpose being trying to anticipate each other actions.

It has often been sad that we are the sum of the 5 people closest to us. That is, we tend to take the appearance and demeanor of those that are closest to us. So if you don’t know much about a person, but you are reasonably aware of those closest to them, the general tendencies of these 5 people can give you a more or less accurate reading of who this target individual is as a person.

Look To Whom Is Closest

The point is though (and the reason for the sensitivity), why not take things, one step further? For many people, who is the closest individual to that person? Well it’s their spouse. So when you see a man and you are sizing him up so to speak, trying to get an accurate gouge of his social, capabilities and place in the world, look at his wife. Who is she? How does she look like? What is her station in life?

This may come across as incredibly shallow, but let me expand on it. Normally, people marry those that are on the same attractiveness level in terms of looks and status. if you look at a man and rate him 1-10 and then a woman, generally they will be close in that range.

Women tend to be a bit easier to judge as more emphasis is placed on looks and through her you can get a better idea on how the man is. If he has a ‘trophy wife’, odds are you have a big wheel on your hands, if it’s the opposite, well you be the judge.

Of course things can get a bit more sensitive then this, but the point is, look to those around an individual, it will give you a better idea on what you are dealing with without having to be direct.
