Becoming a Better Speaker: Kingston’s Journal #14

Your persona when people listen to you is equally important to what you say.

A couple of weeks ago, I finally worked up the courage (and realized I haven’t done this yet) to watch some old videos of my speech class I took in the spring of 2016. It was supposed to be my class assignment, but I never did it.

Now having watched these videos and comparing them to my class lectures I recorded last month, I couldn’t help but laugh with joy. I feel I’ve made so much progress comparing the 20 year old me to when I was almost 24 in the lectures. To me it looks like a clear cut example of comparing a boy with a man.

Besides that point, I also watched a YouTube video by GaryVee on how he thinks the 5 year time frame starting when you finish college is the best time in your life to attach what you want. What he sas is good, the way he says it is good as well, but what I focused in on was the hand gestures he used.

I have 2 more months of teaching, and in order to become a better speaker (and to keep things interesting for me) I’ve found the implementation of hand gestures is what I can put at the forefront of my mind to work on.
