Kingston’s Journal: Comparisons

Comparisons weigh things into perspective.

So that was 8 days in Korea. Besides properly visiting the War Memorial Museum in Seoul and going to North Korea, I don’t feel much incentive to come back. One of those, “been there, done that” feelings.

The people here overall seem more disingenuous than the Japanese. I’ve undergone a number of transactions where the motives of the locals were questionable. The streets also don’t seem as clean with people eating, smoking, littering and spitting on the pavement. The people also seem less willing to help with directions. On more than one occasion, people in Japan would go out of their way to help, that was very rare in Korea.

Koreans don’t seem as socially isolated as Japanese though, I can see it with the way restaurants are laid out and daily interactions between people.

Wish I had something deep and profound to say right now but I don’t. Last leg of the trip tomorrow.
