I sparred for the first time yesterday. It didn’t go well of course. Why should it have? Can’t expect to be great the first time around doing things. This takes me back to March in my first Muay Thai class in Chiang Mai when I got bruised terribly and when I clinched for the first time a couple months ago and was sore for several days.
I’ve made significant strides since March and I’ve just taken the first step of many to another one. The left side of my mid section got banged up and I was flinching whenever a punch came flying towards my face. All part of the process, it can only get better from here.
I also climbed rope, the first time I’ve done so since the 7th grade. I think I have the strength to get all the way up, but lack the confidence on getting back down. Just another thing to add to the bucket list.
